This board was manufactured in West Germany around 1984 by Schneider & Koch, a premium third-party hardware developer renowned for building high-performance, professional-grade networking and storage solutions for Commodore business computers. Key Details & Specifications: • Manufacturer: Schneider & Koch (Germany) • Model / Markings: 6-295 / "CBM Plate" / "SCHNEIDER & KOCH" PCB text • Device Function: High-speed external hard disk subsystem interface and multi-user local area network (LAN) controller. • The onboard EPROM is labeled "8032 1.4", indicating firmware compatibility with the Commodore 8000/CBM-II architecture lines. • Historical Significance: In the early 1980s, Schneider & Koch systems provided the absolute fastest data transfer rates available for Commodore machines (around 20 KB/s, completely outperforming official Commodore storage units like the D9060/D9090 or 8250 drives). Furthermore, this controller allowed up to 16 Commodore computers to be networked and share a single massive central hard drive in office or laboratory environments. Condition: The PCB is in excellent, clean visual condition with no apparent battery corrosion or severe damage. All traces are crisp, and the components are firmly seated. It is housed inside an original Commodore CBM-II computer unit. Sold as-is / untested due to its specialized nature and age. This is a true holy grail item for serious Commodore historians and enterprise computing collectors. You will likely not find another one of these for sale anywhere on the market today.
